San FranciscoVERSARY

You guys. I forget how to blog. Like it’s so bad. I don’t remember how to be funny. I miss you all. Do you miss me? Is this awkward? Probably. HALP.

Anywho…guess what! My 1 year anniversary of moving to SF is next week! My San FranciscoVERSARY! So frickin unreal. How the heck did time fly by so fast??? I do not know. I’m sure you all are dying to know what I’ve been up to in the past year, amiright? Let’s take a little trip down memory lane!

WARNING: gargantuan stream of photos to ensue.

Visitors Galore!

Mel came to visit me in SF only a few weeks after I moved here – I love that she is so close in San Diego. We did a bus tour of Napa – both of our first times!

Tess came to visit in September while the Pope was in Philly causing chaos errrwhere. We had an awesome 5 days or so together exploring the city, eating good food, and drinking lots of wine, obvi. Sarah was really excited to get to hang out with us too!!! Lolz.

Mom + Dad

Trace + Big Bill visited me in November for Thanksgiving last year. They were here for almost a week – I took them to Napa, Monterey and Carmel, and all of the touristy sites around the city!

This pregnant little cutie pa tootie came to visit me in March all the way from the ATL. Emily was the guniea pig for what has come to be my “epic 1 day tour of SF”. You want the dets? Fineeeeee. Breakfast at Kitchen Story, hike Corona Heights, Crissy Field + Golden Gate Bridge, Lands End hike, Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park, Painted Ladies. BOOM.

The rain never bothered me anyway! Poor Sonja came to visit on the most dreary weekend in the history of EVER. I felt so bad. But we made the most of it and still did all of the things despite the constant fog + mist. And ate way too much ice cream, cookie dough, popcorn, and chips + salsa. As per usual.

Kait + Katy

SpRiNg BrEaK y’all! These weirdos came to visit me from DC for almost a full week during their spring break. We did the usual tour of SF and spent the day in Napa – um can you please look at this view. Not real.

Lauren + Jon

My best babes cousin in the whole wide word extended her trip to LA for a wedding to come up to SF to visit little old me! Lala and Jon were in town for just a few days, but we were able to explore the city a bit and get lots of great food + drinks together!

Gabrielle + the whole Vicari clan!

When I asked Gabrielle what she wanted to do when she was in town, she told me she would rather spend the day doing what the locals do rather than all of the touristy things. PRAISE JESUS. I love having visitors and all, but I was getting pretty darn worn out of giving the same tour 70 million times! We spent the weekend walking around the Castro, laying in Dolores Park, drinking beer at 21st Amendment, and eating homemade chicken soup while watching TV. Perfection. I also had a blast going out to eat with the Vicari’s, showing them around town a little, and even olympic lifting with Jonathan!

I went to Italy and even blogged about it! Part 2 is coming soon, I SWEAR!

Big Sur

The most beautiful coastal drive ever ever ever ever ever EVER. If you haven’t been and are visiting CA anytime soon, this is a must do. Look at that view! #newwallpaper #youwontdoit #butidid #kthx

Tahoe x 3

When I flew back to SF from Philly after Christmas I made sure to check my skis because I hoped I would be doing some Tahoe skiing in the winter months. Boy was I right! I made it to Tahoe 3 times this winter and loved every single trip. We even had our winter Zesty retreat in Tahoe!

San Diego

My first time in SD in February! I was long overdue for a visit to see Melanie since she came to visit me so soon after I moved out here and Chelsea had just moved to SD to start grad school and we obviously couldn’t wait even a month before going to see her! This is the most amazing thing about California to me – I was literally in Big Sur one weekend, skiing in Tahoe the next, and snorkeling in San Diego the following weekend. How is this real life?

Zesty RD’s do donuts and ice cream in Portland! Sonja, Kathleen, Eliza, and I made the trip for a sports nutrition conference and got to explore the adorableness that is Portland.

Holy. Moses. Have. You. Been. To. Yosemite. Yet.

I am convinced this place is fake. It is so stunning and grandiose I can’t even handle it. We took a weekend trip to visit my favorite person in the universe – Dan Murphy! We had so much fun hiking 20+ miles out and back to the base of Half Dome, but the cables were down and the dome itself was covered in snow so we weren’t able to make it all the way to the top. Womp womp. But it was still so much fun! I’m planning to take my brother and sister back when they come to visit in August and do the wholeeeeee Half Dome hike!

Ps. Dan just moved to Alaska and I am 100% going to visit him in the next few months. Stay tuned!

Okay okay, I know I said Yosemite was amazing and all, but HAVE YOU SEEN MAUI. No? Go. Right now. Book your flight. Just do it. You will not regret it. I am willing to bet my life on it.

Maui is so dreamy. We had an action packed 4 days and it was SUCH an easy trip from SF! We snorkeled with sea turtles, relaxed on the beach, watched the sunrise from the top of the Haleakala volcano, zip-lined, went to a luau, and drove the Road to Hana. I need to go back ASAP. Who’s coming with me?!

Please ignore our disgusting hair and complete sweatball selves. We just can’t handle that Texas heat, man. Danielle and I traveled to Austin for the Paleof(x) conference! I was losing my mind the entire time. So many paleo bloggers, podcasters, doctors, and more that I have been following for years – I was starstruck to say the least. We spent the majority of our time in the most inspiring and informative sessions and keynotes at the conference and moseying around the expo hall sampling way too many jerkies, paleo chocolates, and bone broth. But we also got to explore the city and try lots of yummy Texas food and drink. Tacos, BBQ, and country music. This girl was a happy camper!

Fun Around SF

Crossfit (8AM Girl Power!)

You guys. I drank the Kool-Aid. The Crossfit Kool-Aid. And it got me rullllllll good. I love my gym and my gym friends so much. In the past year I’ve improved so much and had so much fun doing it! I got my first strict pull-up and my first banded muscle up, I did my first ever Crossfit Open, I can do kipping AND butterfly pull-ups, I can finally snatch something over 35 pounds (LOL), I have become a handstand wizard, I started olympic lifting (yes Mom, you heard that right), and I’ve gotten more PR’s than I can count! But I still can’t get those darn double unders…one day!

Zesty Besties

I have the best job in the entire world and work alongside the most amazing people who have become more than just co-workers. I never thought I’d say this, but going to work everyday is SO FUN and I love all my Zesties!

The Best Surprise

And for the grand finale of exciting things that have happened in my life in the past year: THE BABY! Owen Thomas Johnson was born on June 6th and is the most perfect tiny human I have ever seen. Emily and Matt are going to be the best parents. And lucky me gets to see him in just 2 days and spend a whole week snuggin’! I. Cannot. Wait.
